For many years I painted images of rocks. The rocks that provided the inspiration for these paintings were carefully selected and gathered from beaches on Cape Cod. At first they were simple compositions of rocks lined up on a ledge. These evolved to more elaborate configurations of stacked rocks, and finally to arrangements suggestive of family constellations.

My current work is non-objective. Knowing my history, one can still see a glimmer of a past obsession with rocks. My concerns now are with the process. You can see evidence of the stages along the way. I start with no preconceived notion of what the painting will become. I am totally free to explore color, form, space, texture and composition. There is an element of playfulness. Every blank canvas presents a challenge. I regard every work as an adventure.

In addition to my paintings, my monoprints provide me with additional avenues of expression.
